After Platelet Rich Plasma injections, another innovative cosmetic treatment called Uvence uses the patient’s own cells to rejuvenate the skin, tackle wrinkles and reverse the signs of aging. The popularity of these kinds of natural treatments reflects the growing trend of people choosing non-invasive technology over face lifts and other surgical procedures.

The Uvence treatment involves injecting the skin with live tissue from a patient that has been frozen and preserved in order to smooth and plump the complexion. Once the cells have been extracted from the patient, they are filtered through a purification system and then injected back into the targeted area to improve the texture and appearance of the skin.

The thirty-minute procedure costs a minimum of $8,600 and can be used to rejuvenate skin on the face, neck, hands and décolletage.

Extracting the Cells

The first step is to extract fat cells from an area of the body such as the thighs or buttocks using a type of micro liposuction carried out under local anesthetic. The tissue is then put in a sterile medical box and transferred to a cryotherapy chamber where it is frozen. Doctors are able to extract up to ten vials of cells from one extraction session, which can be preserved for five years if the patient wishes to have regular top-ups.

The frozen cells—which represent a personalized super-enriched tissue—are then injected into the face using a syringe. Patients will experience some discomfort after the procedure but the effects last for several months.

Though most commonly used to reduce signs of aging, the procedure can also be used to fix filler treatments that have gone wrong.

Natural Alternative to Synthetic Treatments

Uvence was pioneered by a team of experts in London with backgrounds in cosmetic surgery, biochemistry and logistics. Even prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons’ annual audit reported a 25% reduction in face and neck lifts. A separate survey conducted by The Private Clinic, found that over half of respondents felt the future of cosmetic enhancement is non-surgical facial treatments, and almost a quarter said that natural body-shaping procedures, such as fat transfers, were a key trend.
